On 5 September, SIPJ organised a fundraising talk and high tea in aid of Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur. KSK is a community action group which distributes food to the homeless and urban poor.

Prominent celebrity urologist Professor Dr. George Lee provided an entertaining and informative talk, provocatively entitled 'Men's Health Unzipped and Women's Health Undressed', which addressed the misconceptions of health concerns between men and women.

The afternoon was attended by several distinguished guests, who included SIPJ's Puan Sri Siew Yong Gnanalingam, who is also the National Representative of Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia (SIROM), Datin Indira Naidu, President of SIROM, and Datin Linda Ngiam, managing director and CEO of Star Publications (M) Bhd group. SIPJ IPP Kim Fong also supported the event.

Despite a huge traffic jam and police roadblocks which created many obstacles for the attendees, those who did make it were very glad that they did. Everyone left wiser about the state of our health and how important it is to go for regular health screens.They also learned about Kechara Soup Kitchen and contributed to its noble cause.

Ruby Khong, President of Kechara Soup Kitchen, expressed her gratitude to SIPJ for organising this event and to all those who supported this event to benefit many who are less fortunate than ourselves.

As the event ended, the KSK committee promptly went into action and packed the remaining food from the buffet which was distributed later that night to the homeless and urban poor.
