SIPJ planted the seed of awareness and concern for the environment among this group of less privileged children who are unlikely to have such an educational opportunity or the interest, on their own. The Wetlands Sanctuary was chosen as it is the first for Malaysia and a most unique environmental project. On the tour, the children were exposed to the many plant, fish and animal life and the many ecosystems in the sanctuary. The children particularly enjoyed a walk into the peat swamp forest.

The children are treated to lunch, sponsored by the SIPJ President, Siew Yong Gnanalingam and SIPJ President Elect, Anusha, at the Observatory, the highest point in the Sanctuary.
